Regenerative thinking is part of an ecological narrative where human and natural systems evolve together. People see themselves as part of an ecosystem and their actions enrich, reinforce and refurbish their living environment. It’s about finding the right balance between our growth ambitions and the one-earth boundaries.
The regenerative cities narrative is about transforming urban development plans into urban regeneration plans. It is an invitation to the construction industry to take ecological activism at the core of their strategies. This means working with property firms, architects, citizen movements and NGOs to retrofit the urban core and design new buildings that give more than they consume.
